Collection: Traditionals & Fancies

While playing with traditional forms is partly about my desire to be gently accessible… it is often much more about my active appreciation for the richness of design and skillful craftsmanship out of the past. Some forms honoring the past can be beautiful for that historical essence alone… Seductive, even as we might celebrate our not being there now! I have quite a fine time playing like an archaeologist, digging through the layers of my fantasy. Studying specific historic details… but also “mixing it up” by creatively referencing several influences together. Many times I design more freely, with less recognizable imagery, but with the simple celebration of pattern or an exuberance of form in geometric space. There is much to be playfully learned ringing from such depths of time…
