I began studying the human figure in the drawing courses I enjoyed at university. Even though such figural work was mostly eschewed in my painting classes during that period of Abstract Expressionism, I continued carrying my deep appreciation of classical style alongside that looseness. Eventually, my jewelry work reinforced those more precise values & I made my own eclectic path. This sculpture is part of a small collection of such studies He hangs around as a remnant of that work for which I never developed more than a quiet, mostly private market. I planned to add wings, hence the sockets on the back of his shoulders... which can hold an improvisation of feathers or twigs. Casting such pieces proves to be complicated & difficult for technical reasons, thus this must be specially ordered.
